PUBLIC Chicago

PUBLIC, Chicago

Yabu Pushelberg was entrusted by Ian Schrager Group to re-design the landmark transformation of Ambassador East into the first and only Public Hotel in Chicago. A part of the hotel’s re-invention was designing the iconic Pump Room, which in its day hosted celebrities such as Marilyn Monroe and Frank Sinatra. Reimagined, the space layers new finishes over the old bones of the space conjuring old memories of the historical club-like atmosphere.

The food concept for the Pump Room was created by world-renowned chef and 2011 James Beard Award winner Jean-Georges Vongerichten. At night, The Pump Room transforms into a Supper Club resembling the glamour of the 1930s and 40s with a modern touch.
